“Change Agents” Youth Leadership Training Conferences in Gauteng
SACLA, held 5 years ago, birthed Youth Leadership Training Courses under the name “Change Agents.” Ever since then annual training courses have been run in Gauteng and Port Elizabeth. A partnership has also developed with AE’s leadership training courses in KZN, Free State & Eastern Cape. Plans are to establish Change Agents in Cape Town this year as well.
A committee has been established that looks at the future direction and programming for Change Agents. This committee has had broad representation from a wide number of churches as well as organisations such as J-Life, YFC, SU, SonLife, & The EDGE.
This committee believes that it would be strategic to run a number of regional one day (Saturday) training courses in May & June in Ekurhuleni, Soweto, West Rand, Johannesburg North and Tshwane. These would be followed up with a weekend training conference 15-17th August at the YFC training centre in the Magaliesburg.
The theme for 2008 is “Developing Discipleship-focused youth programmes.” We feel that the conferences cater for leaders from Youth, Young Adults and Children’s work.
The dates we've set for the one day training conferences are:
Joburg Northern Suburbs - 24th May, Bryanston Bible Church. 8:30am - 5pm
Ekureleni - 31st May, Buela Park

We feel that the conferences
We feel that the conferences cater for leaders from Youth, Young Adults and Children’s work. The questions we'll be asking are, "What does someone who has been through your ministry look like as a follower of Jesus? How can you help God form that person? What are the things you need to do - and the resources you need - to do that?" At the end of the training day you should have a good grasp of that.
As you know, Change Agents is committed to walking a journey with you as you serve within youth ministry. It would be great if we could do that both at the training days and at the weekend conference. This also ties into our emphasis this year which is more on process than on an information dump. We want to help you develop your ministry in the most appropriate way for you.

@Abel: your closest training will probably be in Soweto, unless you want to take a drive to Bryanston next Saturday! The Soweto venue is Grace Bible chuch on the Old Potch Road, Pimville near the Maponya Mall. 8:30 for 9am on 7 June, and the cost is R50, payable on the day.
